Ocarina of Time is on Switch 2: a first-session checklist

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time releases for Nintendo Switch 2 on November 5, 2026. If you are starting today, checking a few settings may be more useful than following somebody else’s route through the story. This checklist combines Nintendo’s information with our preparation advice, rather than findings from hands-on testing.

Check the edition and available storage

Nintendo’s UK listing specifies Nintendo Switch 2 and a 24.9 GB download. Match the platform name to your console and check your remaining storage before downloading. It is worth doing this before the evening you have set aside to play. That figure is the store listing’s download size, not our measurement of the installation after every update.

Listed languages do not establish voice languages

The official language list includes Russian, but not Ukrainian. That list alone does not explain the available voice tracks. If spoken language matters to you, check the relevant game settings or Nintendo’s clarification before treating a supported-language label as an audio guarantee.

Choose comfortable controls

Nintendo supports ocarina input through buttons or the microphone. Ranged weapons offer conventional aiming or motion controls, selectable in Options. Our suggestion is to start with a familiar input method and try the alternative separately. Changing one thing at a time makes it easier to identify what suits you.

Leave a reminder for the next session

Threads of Time shows story progress and the next objective. Before taking a break, consider checking it and noting what you intended to do next. This is our suggestion for shorter play sessions, not a promise that you will finish without needing help.

The phone can wait

Nintendo describes Ocarina of Time features for ZELDA NOTES, including accomplishment records and melodies; the service does not require Nintendo Switch Online membership. Start with the adventure and explore the app later if it interests you. Do not assume every ZELDA NOTES feature from Breath of the Wild or Tears of the Kingdom also applies here: compatibility is identified by game.

This checklist prepares a first session. Image quality, stability and combat feel still need separate testing; we are not awarding a hands-on review score here.
