Hogwarts Legacy and DLSS 5: what to check before updating

NVIDIA scheduled Hogwarts Legacy’s DLSS 5 update for November 5, with support for GeForce RTX 50, RTX Spark and GeForce NOW Ultimate. It directs players to enable Neural Rendering in the game settings after updating. We have not independently confirmed the patch rollout at the time of preparation.

Check availability first

An announced date does not guarantee that your client has installed the required build. Check the download and the relevant option. If the toggle is absent, avoid replacing the official update path with random files from a forum. Preserve your settings so you can return to the previous configuration.

How to compare the result

Choose a familiar scene and compare it using the same camera position, resolution and other settings. Repeat the comparison in motion. A still frame shows detail, but stability and the feel of controls also matter when playing. Examine an interior, outdoor vegetation and a character close-up separately.

Change one setting at a time. Otherwise, it becomes difficult to tell whether a difference comes from neural rendering or another option changed alongside it. Do not judge the entire game from one attractive scene.

What this update means

NVIDIA describes DLSS 5 as working on lighting and materials under developer control. It specifically emphasizes preserving character identity in Hogwarts Legacy. That is the stated implementation goal, not our assessment of the finished patch.

Separate three questions: do you prefer the image, is it stable in motion, and does performance meet your needs? The answers may differ. We are not adding invented frame-rate figures or universal “best settings”; those recommendations require measurements of a specific build on specific hardware.
