What has been confirmed
Ubisoft released a free Valhalla update for PS5 and PS5 Pro on November 5, 2026, adding New Game Plus. Upgraded PSSR is exclusive to Pro; the publisher claims 60fps in Quality mode. These are publisher statements, not findings from our own testing.
Replay the adventure or finish an existing save?
Before downloading, decide what you actually want from returning. Replaying a familiar adventure and finishing an abandoned campaign are different projects. The first makes the rules of a new cycle important. The second is better served by loading your existing save and remembering where you left off.
Our recommendation is to resist restarting simply because another menu option is available. Set aside a short session to reacquaint yourself with the controls, equipment and current objectives.
If that makes you want to continue, committing more time becomes an easier decision. If the prospect of a long journey already feels exhausting, a technical update is unlikely to change your basic preferences.
Check the New Game Plus description in your installed version before confirming anything. Rules from other Assassin’s Creed games should not be assumed to apply here. Establish which items carry over, what must be completed to unlock the option and what happens to ongoing objectives.
This article does not promise that particular equipment transfers without verification of the relevant rules.
How to judge the picture on your own display
Choose one scene for comparison and revisit it under matching conditions. A stationary view can make small details easier to inspect; camera movement can reveal whether those details remain stable. Include your own comfort in the assessment. The sharpness of a still image does not tell the whole story about how responsive a game feels.
Avoid changing your television’s picture mode, sharpening and the game’s settings at the same time. Doing so makes the cause of any difference difficult to identify. Photograph your existing settings first, then change one variable at a time. Compressed social-media clips can provide a secondary reference, but they are a poor substitute for examining your own display.
We have not measured frame times or established how consistent performance is. That requires a separate test with documented conditions. An announcement about one update is also insufficient grounds for recommending a console purchase.
A short checklist before committing
- Confirm that installation has finished and record the game version. - Check that the intended save is available, along with a backup where your storage arrangement supports one.
- Read every progress-related warning before starting another cycle. - Pick a familiar route for a short trial session. - Allow time to assess the experience rather than committing to a lengthy playthrough immediately.
Who should consider returning?
The strongest reason is personal: an unfinished story, a favourite section worth revisiting or curiosity about your current hardware. An update is an opportunity to reconsider your plans, not an obligation to restart. A newcomer should first consider whether the game suits their tastes and how much time they want to spend with it.
It can help to define a modest goal for that first session. Remember the controls, understand the active objective and decide whether you want to play again tomorrow. This is more useful than promising to finish the entire adventure. It leaves room for other games and prevents an evening’s entertainment from becoming an unwanted commitment.
This is a practical return-to-play guide based on a verified announcement, rather than a review of the patch. Judgments about image quality and the convenience of another playthrough should follow hands-on verification. Until then, keeping expectations specific is the fairest approach for both returning players and first-time readers.
